A ship’s capacity to offer medical assistance in most cases will be limited in providing only first aid and will be constrained by the resources and medical expertise available on board.
Following embarkation, a large number of rescued persons might require medical attention which will be beyond the ship’s capacity. In this case the Master should not hesitate in requesting specialized assistance.
This course will cover this issue providing knowledge regarding diseases in general, how crew members could recognize suspicious symptoms, how to protect themselves and which are the first aid that they can provide during the transit to disembark the rescued immigrants.
